Quinoa - what can I do to make it look...uh....different?

This is a totally serious question.

Maybe I'm cooking it all wrong, but when I cook quinoa, each grain develops this.....beige ring....that I can only describe as resembling a tiny, tiny condom. I love quinoa (and it's good for you), but I can't deal staring at a bowl of something that looks like a mound of microscopic condoms.

Is there a way to cook quinoa so as to avoid this phenomenon?
