Arrived Saturday, headed to Cafe du Monde in the pooring rain but it was worth it. Still pouring rain we made our way to Stella!

Very good. Had Baby Spinach Leaves, Red Grapes and Toasted Walnuts with Maytag Blue Cheese Vinaigrette and Tandoori-Spiced Atlantic Salmon with Coconut-Shrimp Basmati Fried Rice and Spicy Mango Cashew Butter. Both were excellent. Can't speak to the wine list or dessert ( I don't do either), but the service was outstanding, friendly and attentive.

Walking through the FQ on the way back to our hotel (Hotel Monaco - great rooms and location, staff not so competent), we ran into Krewe du Vieux parade. What a hoot! They were having a blast in the pouring rain and we had fun watching them.

Sunday brunch at Cafe Sbisa. Not bad, not great. Had Fried Green Tomatoes and a crab omlette. Dinner Sunday was at Bacco. No reservation but we got in and it was excellent. Had a delish Oyster Pillow and a Foie Gras Pizza (housemade pizza dough topped with roasted portobello mushrooms, caramelized Chianti onions and housemade mozzarella cheese topped with Hudson Valley foie gras and white truffle oil). The 3 course dinner special was a great deal but we weren't that interested in the items. Wish I had been able to go there for lunch where they have the 10 cent martinis.

Monday did a cemetary tour and had the famous Central Grocery Muffelta. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. Very pleased. Monday afternoon, massages at Belladonnas on Magazine Street.

Monday night dinner was at Nola. Many mixed reviews on this board about it but people I know and trust told me how great it was, so we went. Had the Gumbo of the Day (seafood) and that was excellent and Hickory-Roasted Duck (with Whiskey-Caramel Glaze, Buttermilk-Cornbread Pudding, Haricot Vert-Fire Roasted Corn Salad, Natural Jus and Candied Pecans) which was great. The service was excellent but somewhat rushed. My companion had a salmon special that was too undercooked to her liking so she sent it back. For dessert I had some sorbet (I was too stuffed to have anything else heavy even though they all sounded great) which I liked 2 of the 3 flavors. The lemon was so tart I couldn't eat it.

Tuesday breakfast was more beingets, Riverwalk, quick peak at the casino and then home.

We had a great time although it was cold and rainy for Saturday. Of course Tuesday was sunny and warm...just in time for us to leave.
