After suggestions from hounders, I visited the Linkery the first night in SD on business and this place was tremendous. Colleague and I sat at the bar and it was terrific. They had Green Flash on cask and a couple others on tap as well as a great west coast beer selection of stuff that I just would love to be able to get in Jersey.
The food was awesome even though the selection didnt seem that huge. Everything was ridiculously fresh and clearly cooked to order. That night, I had the greens salad, sausage plate, tiburon over quinoa, and pound cake. Each and every item was terrific and the service was excellent.
After hearing that the arrogant bastard would be on cask later in the week, I made it back the last night out there and that was perhaps the greatest glass of beer Ive ever had- what a treat. That night, with a larger party, not ONE person was dissapointed with any of the dishes. For appetizers, we all had salads and the portabella tacos, stuffed acorn squash. The best squash preparation Ive ever had- so fresh and the barley was tremendous. Cant say enough. Again, great service. Only drawback could be relatively high prices and as a complainer myself there really wasnt much to do so about at this place.
The night I went to the vine was solo and to start, the beer selection was abundant and was not let down. Enjoyed the salad and the tuna tartar app with olive tapenade. Both were good but a bit on the over oiled side. The bread was the same but still good. For the main dish, had the salmon with the mash on side. Again, a little heavy on the butter and oil but I would still recommend. The service here was also fantastic- well done San Diego and thank you chowhounds for sending me in these directions for good food and even better beer.
