Thanks for the timely advice on my recent trip to Chicago. Unfortunately, I was unable to use most of it due to the wedding.
Saturday morning the wife and I ate at Louie's Grill, which was great. DC doesn't have any neighborhood breakfast diner-grill type places, so it was nice to sit in the counter at one. The hash tasted great, the wife's pancakes were great, the whole experience was great.
Interestingly, they had a large ham, bone and all, propped up on the counter. From time to time, they would cut steaks off it and throw them on the grill. Unfortunately, I only noticed this after I ordered hash.
Saturday night we ate at a pre-wedding barbecue at my cousin's house. No review.
Sunday morning, due to some lower-brain stem reflex, we went to Chinatown and ate dim sum. This is the second trip I have made plans for, and wound up eating dim sum. I have no explanation. I should just stop asking for advice and admit that I'm going to eat dim sum.
We tried to go to Joy Yee? for pho, but they didn't open until 11:00. Then we tried Phoenix, but the wait was about 40 minutes at 10:30 a.m., so we went to Three Happiness, which wasn't so great. On the positive side, it was dim sum. Stopped back by Joy Yee for fruit/bubble drinks, which were great, although they use small bubbles.
Sunday night was my cousin's wedding. Again, no review.
Thanks again for the advice. Hopefully I will use it my next time in Chicago.
