How to make quick oats palatable?

I am a devoted fan of oatmeal. Usually I use the thick organic rolled oats from the bulk bin at Whole Foods and cook them slowly in equal parts water and soy milk, with a chunk of cinnamon thrown in for good measure. But I'd like to be able to continue my oatmeal habit at work, and I have several pounds of quick oats with which to experiment. Recent batches (or, more accurately, botches) using just hot water and sugar have created a substance that might be great for filling cracks in walls, but is less than ideal for human consumption.

Any suggestions for tasty oatmeal at work? I have access to a hot water dispenser, a microwave, and a refrigerator. I can bring in any additions as well as the oatmeal, but everything should be vegan. Thanks in advance.
