Quick Meal at Carmine's

I went with two friends and we walked in and luckily three people go up right in front of us at the bar. Had this not happened, we most definitely not have eaten, since the place was mobbed. The place is not fancy at all and has all the appeal of a school cafeteria during an Animal House production. The noise is deafening. We sat at the bar and our bartender was very good. Not only attentive, but when he recognized out senses of humor, felt compelled to join in. We went specifically so that my friend could introduce us to their spiedini alla romano. Delicious fried bread, with gobs of melted mozzarella topped with anchovies and some lemony garlic sauce. It was very good, but I wouldn't pay that amount of money for what was really an Italian French Toast. The portion was perfect for three to chare. We decided to eat and since it was family style, we decided on one chicken and one pasta dish. We ordered the chicken scarpiello, which one of my friend insisted wasn't CS. No potatoes, no peppers, no sausage. He called it really good fried chicken. I couldn't argue, but it was done the way CS should be...on the bone and in a delicious, somewhat spicy sauce. For the pasta dish, we went for something simple. Rigatoni w/ broccoli (we added sausage for an extra $2). I've kinda given up on pasta, for a multitude of reasons, but it was cooked perfectly, the large florets of broccoli were saturated with the garlic and oil and the sausage was very tasty.
All in all I'd say the food was 8/10, the service was 10/10 and the ambience was 3/10 (I'd give it one, but there were quite a few beautiful women in the place). Two of which happened to be sitting right next to us, so I'll give themsome extra points. All in all I'd say a 7/10
