Sometimes I order one small dish to test out a joint, so here are some quick hits that are not really worth a seperate post. Let me know if you have had any similar experiences lately....
Steel Plate in Brookland. Thsi is a gastropub that has an interesting menu. I tried only the anaheim pepper stuffed with risotto and chorizo. It was good, I'd consider going back for the very enticing menu, but I wouldn't go out of my way.
My Little Bistro in Takoma Park. This is an interesting sandwich shop that, because the employees are Salvadoran, has a dual-personality menu. I got the aguadito, a creamy chicken and rice soup. It was ok, but a side of mini-tamales was pointless. I will explore elsewhere next time.
Compass Rose at 14th and T, NW. Thsi is a tiny 'boite' with dim lights and pumped, music. International street food menu. Much has been made of the Georgian cheese bread (khachapuri) which is a large boat filled with soupy cheese and raw egg that gets mixed at the table. Utterly delicious. Worth an exclamation point or two. Lots of other enticing things to explore here.
