Quick Chowing this weekend: Bad2 Da Bone & Chabelita's

C.S.2 | Nov 17, 2003 11:45 AM

I was near both of these places this weekend and hungry [shock & surprise!] so decided to check them out. Both are will-go-backers.

Bad 2 Da Bone is a b-b-q place at 4565 W. Century Bl. [a block or 2 east of Inglewood Ave, north side of street] recently reviewed on this board. We had the pork rib and brisket lunches. The meat was tender and tasty on both and I really like the sauce – nice little kick to it. That was the mild and I’ll try the hot next time. The b-b-q beans need a little more sugar and a little less sauce. I liked the potato salad – not mayonnaisey. My son thought there should have been 3 ribs in the lunch. We got samples of the lemon pound cake – good. Although I’d like a little more lemon flavor, but I usually do. What I’d really like is a lime pound cake with little flecks of the rind in it … yum!

Chabelita is a big taco stand on Western Ave. just north of the 10 fwy, west side of street. We had a carne asada burrito and a carnitas burrito and the same meats tacos. Both good. The meat is very tender and again, a nice little kick to the salsa. I see they have a Chabelita Mariscos across the street. What’s that about? Anybody been there?
