I've been living in the Bay Area for a few years now, but this is the first year that I've been assigned to make the turkey. I guess I should say that this will be my first turkey ever, and although I'm really looking forward to this challenge, I'm also a little bit anxious about where to begin.
So, I'm hoping you can help me with basic turkey information, such as, where should I get the turkey (I hear Whole Foods is good, but expensive), what kind of turkey is best (fresh, free-range, kosher, frozen?), what size turkey will I need for 10 hungry people? I'm planning on using the brining method to make this turkey. I heard that if you get a kosher turkey, you shouldn't brine it.
I did a search for the Bay Area and couldn't find anything on this particular topic. Thanks in advance for your help!
