I'm considering buying a Demeyere plancha. I currently have a Le Creuset cast iron griddle pan, which I don't use enough because I'm not 100% happy with the results. Before buying though I just have a few questions.
See here all three planchas: https://berondi.com/demeyere-cookware...
1. I've heard that the plancha will be discontinued. Is this true for all regions? If so, will it be replaced by a better model? Perhaps just like the Prolines have seen a recent design improvement.
2. Will the results be better than with any cast iron griddle pan? The 7-ply Demeyere should in theory be better I suppose. My main purpose will be searing fish and meat.
3. Is cleaning the plancha a pita? I find cleaning the Silvinox Proline one of the most difficult of all my pans, so just checking here with people who use the plancha for high heat searing.
4. Finally, there are three sizes. Apparently the cheapest size is 5-ply 5mm thick, while the other two sizes are 7-ply 4 mm thick. Is there a noticeable difference between the 5-ply and 7-ply? The cheapest size would fit my gas stove best (on two burners) but is "merely" 5-ply. The smallest 7-ply would also fit my stove so that might be an option too.
