I'm new here, and wasn't sure if I should post here, or in Home Cooking. I received a gift certificate for a kitchen store, and I was going to get a large cast iron skillet, but the beautiful tagines really caught my eye. I gather the concept/method of the tagine is similar to a slow cooker, and one in particular has a cast iron base, and it's around the same price as a skillet I looked at. I assume the base could be used on it's own for frying eggs and whatnot. Is that right?. Apologies for the dumb question, but I am a newb cook, and I am fortunate enough to be able to choose one really special (and hopefully long-lasting!) item. Any opinions on input is greatly appreciated!
