Question about whole shrimp yakitori

motoeats | Oct 18, 201610:04 AM     4

Yesterday I visited a rather popular yakitori restaurant here in nyc. I ordered one shrimp yakitori and was slightly surprised to see that it was in fact a whole shrimp (head to tail, shell and all)

Etiquette-wise was I supposed to consume the entire thing? I am guessing the answer is yes. However this is not what I did. I proceeded to pull the head section off. I ate the body with the shell on (I know the shell is edible but I actually don't find this pleasant at all. Eating the whole head seems a bit beyond the pale to me.

I'm sure I made some kind of huge etiquette blunder but I just wanted to hear some info from you guys about this. thanks
