A Quest for Laksa / laksa paste in the Bay Area?

Pia | Jul 31, 200312:26 PM     3

A couple of years back, Limster mentioned that there was no really good Singapore laksa in the Bay Area, but that Hulu House had a decent vegetarian version. As usual, he was right on both counts.

This month San Francisco magazine listed Hulu House's laksa as #33 of 125 "best things". If it is really the best laksa available, this is a sorry state of affairs.

Last year, I brought a laksa mix (2 pastes and coconut powder) from Prima Taste in Singapore, hoarded it in the freezer for a year, and recently used it to prepare a (non-veg)laksa that makes Hulu House's taste like milk-and-water. Does anyone know of a place I can get the Prima Taste pastes, or another good laksa mix? Or is there anywhere else one can have a good bowl of laksa, preferably non-veg?
