Quest for Authentic Chicago Dog

Steve Doggie-Dogg | Jun 25, 2004 07:49 PM

Thanks to the folks who pointed me in the direction of the closest thing LA has to offer in the way of Chicago Dogs. My posse and I have now tried QT Chicago Dogs, Rubin's Red Hot and Taste Chicago, and although we didn't find anything close to the fabled dogs of the windy city, we did find some mighty fine franks. For details of our experiences and pictures, see our Hot Dog Blog.

So far, our rankings of dog joints is as follows...

Skooby's (4 1/2 Dogs)
Carney's (4 Dogs)
The Stand (3 1/2 Dogs)
QT Chicago Dogs (3 1/2 Dogs)
Papoo's Hot Dog Show (3 1/2 Dogs)
Nathan's Famous (3 Dogs)
Rubin's Red Hot (3 Dogs)
Taste Chicago (2 1/2 Dogs)
Pinks (1 1/2 Dogs)

We just hit Costco last night, and that ugly and sordid story will be posted next week. The Weiner Factory and Sam's on Devonshire are next on our list.

Thanks
Steve Doggie-Dogg
