Last minute decision to spend the week-end in QC.
Excellent weather; ok food.
We arrived late on friday and staying at the ALT hotel in Ste-Foy, we decided to eat at the Bistango restaurant.
Nice "hotel" restaurant with solid "bistro" type menu; got the day's special of the "morue charbonnière" which was well cooked; GF ordered the classic salmon tartare.
With that, we had a nice bottle of "Clos Mont-Blanc" pinot noir from Spain.
A tad expensive and not a destination restaurant; go if you are in the area.
Saturday morning, we brunched at Krieghof (ave. Cartier) for classic and standard brunch fare.
McDo and a belgium beer (at Pub St-Alexandre) during the day.
Saturday evening, GF wanted steak and we went to Charbon Steakhouse (gare Du Palais).
I'm not a steakhouse "guy" in general, but we had a good evening there. (don't know how it stacks up to MTL steakhouse, anyone?).
GF had the filet mignon, and I ordered the simple dry aged "Steak de Cote" With that, we ordered a very nice bottle of "Hess Allomi Cabernet Sauvignon".
They have a nice selection of American wines.
Good and expensive.
That's is ...
Will probably go back and plan ahead to do the "better" restaurants.
