Went today for lunch with the eminent dkstar1. The restaurant was pleasant, with an Ligurian (coastal Italy) menu, a reasonably-sized and priced list of wines by the quartino or the bottle.
The food, to match the space, was pleasant and unassuming, with a focus on organic ingredients. The whole wheat fusilli with spinach pesto I had was cooked well, and the lightness of the dish was a good fit for the summer. The apple cake with a stingy scoop of chocolate gelato was also light, fluffy and soft and fairly tasty. All in all, the meal was casual and laidback though not destination-special. Quartino is a nice spot to have some wine and food in the neighborhood. No more, no less. But when the company is as quality as dkstar, it's a worthwhile experience.
