So I'm looking to make a few dishes featuring sea urchin (a pasta and an appetizer), but I'm struggling as to where to find high quality sea urchin roe in Manhattan (or any of the other boroughs really -- I'm willing to make a trip if it means higher quality roe). I've read things about live sea urchin being available at Eataly, but not sure of its quality. I've also found out that Katagiri (I was just there today -- it was $16.50 for an entire tray!), Sunrise Mart, The Lobster Place, Sea Breeze Fish Market, and Citarella sell sea urchin roe as well, but again, unsure of quality.
Can anyone help shed any light on my quest? Perhaps another purveyor that I haven't already mentioned? Any suggestions will be much appreciated :)
