Restaurants & Bars

Pylos | Nov 8, 2003 02:35 PM

I got takeout from Pylos, the new Greek restaurant on 7th St. and Ave A and it was amazing. The octopus appetizer had the perfect texture and a delicious lemony sauce that I could not get enough of. I mopped all of it up with the warm, soft pitas they gave me. It almost made up for the dissapointment I experienced in Spain, where every restaurant we went to the octopus was rubbery and tough, to know I can order some perfectly cooked right near my apartment. The arnaki yiouvetsi (clay-baked lamb with orzo) was also excellent. I usually disregard orzo as a filler, but it had a wonderful creamy/buttery taste. I had a glass of Kir Yianni while I waited which was good, as in I'd buy it in a wine store if I saw it, but not good, give me another $10 glass. I like how they have gone with an all Greek list, though. I know I'll be back soon.
