Walking around Freeport today we saw 3 Salvadoran food businesses; a bakery, a grocery/deli, and a restaurant. Stopped in at the restaurant, Albertino's on Merrick Rd., for lunch and we were pretty happy with it. The pupusas and tamales rocked, the main course was just so-so. Does anyone know what the sour cream-like substance that is the universal Salvadoran condiment is called? Is it just thinned sour cream, or something more complex?
