Went to punjabi dhaba today happily expecting a tasty lunch. Ordered a samosa and masala dosa. Samosa had pretty good pastry, but the filling was overly wet and bland. Side of onion chutney was also watery, and although had some heat, no other significant flavor.
Dosa itself was overcooked and tough, although the masala filling was not bad - didnt suffer from the wetness of the samosa filling. Sambar was the best of the lot - good spice blend, fair amt of vegetables, including somethat that was a bit crunchy (I think it may have been kolrhabi). The biggest disappointment was the sad pale green glop of what I presume was to be coconut chutney on the side. I believe that it was probably made with dried or frozen coconut, and there was little cilantro taste. More like wallpaper paste than a condiment. Overall, not an experience to be repeated.
