pumpkin pie without crust?

My husband is dieting and he loves pumpkin pie. Has anyone ever baked the filling without the crust? For pies, I use the standard filling recipe printed on the Libby's pumpkin can.
I'm wondering if I should bake the filling in a pie dish or in custard cups.
Any advice?
