Pulverizing onions, garlic, shallots, ginger

Sometimes when I don't need to saute aromatics like onions, garlic, shallots and ginger, I put them in the blender with whatever liquid will be used in the cooking process and pulverize them rather than chop them. This obviously breaks them down more than chopping ever would. I am wondering if there is some negative to this and if I should stop being lazy.

I realize I could probably pulse them in the food processor, but my mini blender containers are so handy.
