Providence - EXPENSIVE, modest value, and ugly room!

Well, to extend the weeklong birthday celebration, a friend with a b'day the day after mine decided that we should celebrate tonight at P'dence!.
Well, you better plan on having a major wallet with a decent enough eating experience, yet hardly worth the $$$ paid.
One appetizer each(peeky toe and chowda), a duck and monkfish entree, a bottle of Oregon P/Noir(Very good at $65), two glasses prior thereto totalling $30, and a split lemon curd based dessert, and the bill was $227, plus tip and valet, or $130 per person. That is not even doing the tasting menu, which had no appeal whatsoever.
No complaints with the food, other than the prices which were $10 across the board entree-wise more than they should be, $5 more than they should be for apps, and a wine list that is very top-loaded at wines over $100, and in many cases over $200.
And the room - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Sat in the first room to the left of the host/hostess station, which is so improperly decorated that you want to rip out that white vynyl tucknroll banquette and start over. What were they thinking!
Got a tour later on to determine the balance of the seating, and if you go on a busier night, opt for one of the 4-tops to the right of the check-in, which is a private dining room some times, yet is overflow otherwise. Much nicer, more private, civilized decor.
btw - staff VERY nice and very helpful - they earned their pay. So nice to see!
