Growing up cooking and eating rice regularly, I never gave it a second thought until recently when I noticed that all of the online recipes called for 2 cups of water to every cup of rice. All my life, my relatives and I had always cooked equal amounts of water to rice. I find that the 2:1 ratio makes for rice that is too mushy, but every recipe online seems to agree with 2:1. Is this a cultural thing?
I'm talking about Jasmine rice, and I do like it on the drier side as opposed to wet and mushy.
