A couple of days ago I needed a little food, and since I happened to be in the Brooklyn Chinatown area, I headed to Truc Mai, a Vietnamese restaurant I had noticed a while back.
I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered four crabmeat/shrimp spring rolls, which I haven't seen at other Vietnamese places, and pho tai. The spring rolls were perfectly fried and came with the usual lettuce and dipping sauce. The pho was delicious, with a broth that was darker than most and had a deep flavor redolent with anise.
The waitstaff is incredibly friendly, the restaurant is incredibly clean, and our waiter said that the place has been there for over two years. I've never seen it written about, but if anyone else has been, I'd like to hear about it.
Oh yeah, I also had a drink special called Rau Ma Nuoc Dua, which is pennywort and coconut juice, very refreshing.
