Produce on the UES

NKVeggie | Dec 26, 2005 07:59 PM

I look, but cannot seem to find, a place with high quality produce, a wide selection and reasonable prices on the UES. I tried the Litsitakos (sp?) markets, where the selection is not that great (ginger, lemongrass anyone?), and my long-standing standby was Agata and Valentina, however their quality has been slipping lately (I can never find a decent head of romaine lettuce), and after the reorganization the selection narrowed, imo. The latest attempt was Citarella, which although a bit on the pricy side, has ok selection but is a bit too far from home (ten blocks). I don't think I'd be willing to go to Eli's with its astronomical prices, but are there any other places I am missing? Thanks chowhounds!
