Prix Fixe in Etobicoke- CRU...long report

ca | Jun 6, 2006 08:04 AM

Our family went out for a birthday dinner Sunday night at CRU in Etobicoke (Royal York/Bloor across from subway) I've been 1 other time and enjoy. This time it was fantastic.

Prix Fixe menu Sunday-Thurs. $25 for app & main and extra $5 for add on dessert.
Choice of appetizer are bean soup, caesar salad or mixed greens. The salads were all with fresh ingredients including lots of pecorino cheese for my caesar.
Mains are "veggie" lasana made with potatoes, yams, goat cheese sauce, spagetti with shrimp (huge!), chicken in mushroom sauce, steak frites. There are others but I forget. Dessert were off main menu. Some of us ordered from main menu, some from price fixe.

All 7 of us throughly enjoyed our meals. Some true stars were the caesar salad, the rosti potatoe with mushrooms, crab risotto, vegetable lasana, chicken in mushroom sauce, banana cream tart, and lemon tart.
Nice touch as well as bread was served to each person toasted warm and they brought seconds upon request.

Best part is your can bring your own wine and they charge only $20 corkage fee. We brought 2 excellent aged wines. The servers and owner are so great about it. (I always think places will give attitude around this) The decor in the room is beutiful as well. Very modern classic.

I didn't pay the bill but the receipent of the bill said it was very reasonable for all we ate and drank. Food was excellent, service good (accomodated the baby in our party) and we will all be going back soon.
