Private Party Disappointment at the Firebird Restaurant

kismet | Dec 21, 2004 03:12 PM

Recently hosted a dinner at the Firebird Russian Restaurant in their private corporate suite only to be disappointed.

The suite, which looked beautiful on the website, was shabby chic emphasis on shabby. Unfortunately I was planning this sight unseen from the West Coast. At $800 just for the use of the room, I expected more. The 4 course dinner minimum was $180.00++/person including house wines. And it went up from there... The food was lack luster (soup barely warm, couldn't decide if the salad had even been dressed, dessert was down right awful) the service just okay (at 11:00 PM the server suggested we leave because I would be charged overtime for the use of the room although my contract specifically stated I had the room all evening!)and the wines were mediocre. The catering sales manager was sweet talking but basically unresponsive. If I had not repeatedly called and written the event order up myself, we would have been finalizing the night before...

All in all, I have to advise against booking this private dining room. Luckily our group had a wonderful time amongst ourselves and the food and surroundings didn't diminish a memorable evening of friends catching up after 25 years! Just wish the restaurant had delivered to hold up its end of the deal.
