Private Clubs

Ok, here is a topic I haven't seen much about: dining at private clubs around town. This is a city with many fine clubs and organizations whose rooms are reserved for members and guests. Some are quite impressive and others are historic and I'm certain that some have wonderful food and signature dishes.

Think of Burning Tree, Congressional Country Club, Columbia CC, Ft. Meyer and others a little out of town. Then there are the in-town clubs such as Cosmos, Tavern Club in Georgetown, Metropolitan, University, Army-Navy and others.

Any thoughts on must visit dining rooms? Classic dishes? Interesting traditions? For example, there was one club I belonged to that served wonderful hot bread baked and then served in flower pots. Another place had an incredible wild game dinner each year. I understand the Army-Navy Club has a great Sunday brunch.

Any thoughts/experiences?
