Hello...
We are planning a 70th birthday party of about 8 adults.
The "birthday boy" loves prime rib. I don't eat it so can you tell me your favorite spot?
Minneapolis/St. Paul or the western suburbs, please.
Thanks!
RIGHT!? When I was a kid, going out for prime rib on Sundays at "the club"...king or queen cut...with horseradish sour cream and some kind of potato you didn't eat...it was a ritual...but I guess a foreign one up here as the only place I can think of that serves prime rib is Jax.

I would say Wildfire in Eden prairie is a good spot. I frequent them and almost always order their prime rib, it comes well seasoned, and with horseradish cream, and a number of options for sides. Wildfire truly has a supper club feel, some 70's decor and big booths, servers in white shirts and black ties, and they all know what they are talking about, when it comes to food, or wine.

On the Saint Paul side of the river, your best bet is The Lexington on the corner of Lexington and Grand Avenue. They have a prime rib special on Friday and Saturday evenings. They recently came under new ownership and have upped their steak program considerably and it's done as classically as you can imagine. The restaurant is a classic throwback to an older time and place as well.
In the past, Lord Fletcher's on Lake Minnetonka used to have a prime rib special inside on the weekends. I don't see it on their current menu, but you could always call and check.

Kincaids downtown St. Paul. I have been to a birthday dinner there and they have a semi private room where they ut parties. I believe of 8 or more. I love the red plaid carpet in that place. I have no idea how they made that work:) I also like Mancinis.
I have found the Prime Rib at Sarna's in Columbia Heights to be consistently delicious. They serve it Friday & Saturday nights.

I'd recommend Jax, but Mancini's might also be fun for the old-school atmosphere.

Try the Roseville VFW...It is not fancy but has good eats and cheap drinks.
I cut and pasted this post from my earlier post:
Contrary to belief, the Roseville VFW here is open to the public. Most VFWs are open to the public due to declining membership (all the old vets are dying off). Anyway, this VFW has a new Chef along with a new menu. On Friday nights they have Prime Rib and Walleye for $12. You get either the prime rib or walleye with a baked potato along with a veggie and roll. This place is great! The Walleye is huge that has a light panko crust which comes out moist inside. The prime rib is a thick King size portion done how you like. Now especially for the price and quality of the food, you would pay at least $20+ for the prime rib anywhere else. And why go to an Applebees, Chilis or TGI Fridays for lesser quality and portion size along with paying a higher price with crappy service. Plus you support the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States) which is a great cause. They also have cheap drinks. I am surprised word has not gotten out to the college kids. They have different events going on there plus a regular menu. I do like the chili there. So stop in and try it out.
Can't vouch for it, but I noticed Prime Rib on the menu at Woolley's Steakhouse. The mac and cheese, however, was awesome.
I tried a lighter cut of prime rib at Kozlak's in Shoreview. I thought it was pretty good. I'm not a regular prime rib eater, so I cant really vouch if this is better prime rib than others.
This birthday bash has already come and gone, but for posterity, I'll not Pittsburgh Blue features prime rib rather prominently. Haven't had the prime rib, but I do think the food there is a step up from Mancinis and Jax.
