The other pride of Joliet: Glasscock's sweet corn

Mugs | Aug 25, 2004 03:35 PM

Is it because I was raised on the stuff? Are my big-city friends raving about the stuff just 'cause we're friends? You be the judge: Is Glasscock's sweet corn really good? Glasscock's stands are three:

--SE corner of Routes 52 and 59 behind Ali Baba's tavern in Shorewood

--SW corner of Plainfield Rd. (US 30) and Theodore (IL 7) in front of Dow Realty in Crest Hill

--The Glasscock farm on Laraway Rd. east of 53 on the Joliet-Elwood border

The stands also sell melon, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers..not all locally grown, though.

How fresh is Glasscock's sweet corn? A guy who works at the stands said during the recent cold snap that they didn't have corn for a couple of days because "the corn quit makin'" due to the cold.
