A new Chinese restaurant just opened up in Monterey Park next to the Hong Kong Supermarket at 125 N. Garfield, so new that the sign outside still says "opening soon." (Good thing I saw the neon sign that said "Open.") This is the space that formerly housed the Red Spaghetti House, and before that, the Red Tomato House. It's also the historic site of the old Luk Yue noodle house and perhaps not coincidentally goes under the name Look You Fan Dim. Initially I couldn't figure the place out since the menu is fairly nondescript and generic. It took me a while to notice that 90 percent of the menu items are priced in the $4 to $6 range. Also the restaurant opens from 8:30 am to midnight and describes their menu as being "low calories." Food was very good and seems like it's worth a return visit.
