Just had some preserve turnip from the midtown location of Grand Sichuan Int'l for the first time. It's listed in the appetizer/cold dish section.
It came with freshly roasted peanuts, all in their nice chili sauce. It's sort of a pickle dish that's a lot more interesting than the usual(and often the only)pickled cabbage.
Can't tell you how happy I was to finally get some of this NOT from a jar in a grocery store. It's crunchy, and slightly sweet. With that and a plate of sauteed loofa, and of course LOTs of rice...life is good.
