How to prepare Green Wheat, or "Gruenkern"

I recently picked up some Gruenkern at the German market and want to prepare it as a side dish for a lamb dish, preferably with some mediterranean or middle-eastern flavorings (cinnamon, dried fruits, nuts, parsley, lemon, etc). Anyone have any recipe suggestions? Unfortunately I'm not able to find any recipes online. I'm also not sure if what I have is the same as what people call Farik or Freekeh. I suspect not, since what I have are whole, intact wheat grains, but websites like wikipedia describe Farik as having been broken up or cracked into pieces that resemble bulgur.
