Some months ago I posted about a report from local avocado growers (my central Calif. coast area is a minor avo growing region of the state) predicting a glut when the Ca harvest combined with Peruvian avos creating the largest crop to arrive on the (Ca.)market.
Today at a local 5-chain store, Spencer's, medium sized (4") Haas are on sale for 10 for $1.00. This could be a loss leader, but they have been 4 for $1.00 recently, not on sale. This is a big change from $1.59 each last fall.
Anyone else in other areas of the country seeing a dip in prices? (I also read a chef's posting that indicated limes were loosening up in availability and would be coming down in price as well.)
What are you paying for Avos?
