Pre-show Dinner at Zoya (report)

We arrived a few minutes early for our pre-Seinfeld show reservations at Zoya and were kindly greeted and seated immediately. I'd heard many good things about this new-ish Hayes Valley restaurant (including a few things on chowhound) so I was really excited about it. We were led upstairs to the cozy dinning room which seats around 20. I ordered a glass of the "Seven Deadly Zins" Zinfandel and my husband a glass of the Sancerre. We also got an order of the poke to start. For dinner we shared an order of the braised short ribs, the seared ahi salad, and the roasted asparagus.
The poke was absolutely amazing, I could have eaten three orders of this. It comes with wonton chips and is perfectly spicy and a little salty, yum! The short ribs were as good as everyone has said they are, totally falling off the bone, and the asparagus was just right. My husband found the dressing on the ahi salad a bit too mustardy but I was okay with it, I guess it's a matter of preference.
We finished with a couple of yummy espressos in lieu of dessert (although I was dying to try the bananas fosters our neighbors at the next table had). The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. Obviously, we'll be back for sure!
