Pre-Blanching Vegetables - thoughts?

My fridge is overflowing and I've also borrowed fridge space from a neighbor. To save on space, I thought I would wash and blanch the 3 heads of rabe that are taking up valuable space.

Are there any downsides to this? On turkey day, I'll be sauteing the rabe with shallots and chile de arbol (from Sunday Suppers).
