Prasantin and others, need your help picking a Wpg restaurant for a party

Hello, former Manitoban here. My mother lives just outside of Wpg and is turning 70 in May. I am planning to host a dinner for 14 pp in her honour and am having difficulty deciding on a restaurant.

I am footing the whole bill. Price is not a concern but I don't want to do a steakhouse because I find the menus too boring. I know Segovia is hot but it is not open the night I intend to book and I don't know that tapas is the best for a dinner party with that many people.

I've been leaning towards Sydney's but have never been. I was also looking at Fusion grill but I recall my mom saying the atmosphere was loud and seating uncomfortable. I have been to Peasant Cookery several times and like it but wanted to do something different.

Any thoughts?
