In Praise of Rocco's Pizzeria in Walnut Creek

Kathleen Mikulis | Oct 21, 200202:00 PM

I've had several good pizzas at Rocco's Ristorante Pizzeria in Walnut Creek. The cheese/sauce combination is very reminiscent to Arinell's - in essence, very good!

Very important to know (these are NOT the defaults)-
This is how we order our pizza:
--thin crust
--light on the cheese

So far we have only had the plain cheese pizza (yes, we need to branch out - but why when it's so good?), but there are lots of specialty pizzas as well as pastas, salads, and appetizers.

Rocco's is obviously very involved and charitable with regards to the outside community - I'd be hard-pressed to think of another restaurant with so many community ties (you can see the "evidence" when you walk in). So you can feel good about coming here.

And a definite plus: there are Trivial Pursuit cards on every table. And there's a pretty mural which is a single landscape showing an Italian village, the Statue of Liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Mt. Diablo. Little did I know that Lady Liberty is right in the middle of San Francisco Bay. Or that Mt. Diablo is in Marin.

Often there are coupons in The Chronicle (Friday section).
