Having recently returned from Hong Kong, I've been missing the fantastic pork buns available from ubiquitous storefront bakeries there.
Well, this weekend, stumbled across Maria's Bakery in Rockville, which gave me flashbacks to Hong Kong bakeries. The pork buns are sublime. They're super-fresh, and the filling is better than any restaurant version I've had: generous portions of pork and onion in sauce; just the right balance of savory and sweet; and the meat comes in small identifiable slices, not the usual mystery mash.
They're individually wrapped so you can grab and go. We reheated ours in the microwave at home the next day and they were as good as fresh. (Our oven was on the fritz - but that's probably even better for reheating.)
Oh - the red-bean buns are excellent too.
