Not a word about this place on these boards! That's really shocking because chowhounders would love it.
It's a bit south and west of the main part of thaitown - on the corner of Melrose and Normandie.
They have a great version of one of my favorite thai dishes, crispy rice salad or nam khao tod, really good curries, and like most places in the area it's very reasonably priced. The portions are good and the taste is authentic. They aren't quite as spicy as Jitlada but they aren't afraid to give their food a kick which I like. I ordered most of my dishes spicy and they absolutely were.
It's a little off the beaten track as far as Thai food goes and I can see why it hasn't gotten much fanfare. There were 0 thais eating there tonight, normally a bad sign, but the taste was 100% there. This is one of the best thai places in the thaitown area, so to all the Thai junkies on this board you've got a new rec. Make sure and post in this thread after you eat there, I have no doubt this place will be a hit.
I ordered the crispy rice salad and the ka pow ped (roast duck w basil) they were both terrific, and my friend got the red curry w pork and pad thai, which are not things I normally order and as much as it pains me to say it, the pad thai was good. It really was. Everything we ordered was really good.
We called in the order and ended up eating there instead of take out, so I can't really comment on the dine-in service unfortunately.
