Postrio - Dine Around Town

The Prix Fixe they offered today was excellent.

Postrio's breads are always great and today was no exception - they had a very nice olive-studded loaf as well as smallish corn muffins to munch on - the butter was extremely fresh as well.

For starters my friend had a celery/potato puree soup with some sort of sauteed scallop "floater". The soup was well seasoned and not too thick, a very nice and subtle taste. The scallop was one of the best-tasting I have ever put in my mouth, extraordinarily sweet. Really tremendous quality.

I had a nice frisee salad, sparingly dressed, with small dabs of ricotta, proscuitto, artichoke, and corn. Very light and tasty.

For the entree, we both had a risotto/paella dish with english peas, mild sausage, lobster, mussels, crab and shrimp. Delicious - it had a rich saffrony broth and the quality of the seafood continued to be top-notch.

For dessert we had the grapefruit sorbet, which came beautifully presented with lovely sections of pink grapefruit and small sugar cookies. Other than the fact that they mistakenly overcharged us by $10- it was a perfect lunch, and well worth the price.

Postrio continues to be a very solid choice for lunch or dinner.
