Had to report back on a recent trip with extra posh dining experiences. I managed to obtain a reservation at the latest hote spot, Grass. What a treat! Fabulous tuna au poivre wth coconut sauce, amazing spring rolls with seared tuna and peanut sauce, and absolutely mouth watering lamb. This is one hot scene and decadently over the top. Mostly outdooors under a thatched roof in the design district. Not too far from Miami beach.
Also, my hightlight was Casa Tua. Now this place is absolutely not for everyone. The prices are WAY up there as is the very chic, Euro attitude. If you want very elegant and formal dining (a rarity to see men with coat and ties)with exceptional Italian food, this is the place. How do I describe that? If you have been to a very nice restaurant in Nice or the Riviera, then this will appeal to you. The Risotto with mushrooms is divine! Also try the roasted quail which is beyond delicious. The list of champagnes features a number of wonderful French bottles that you don't normally find in a South Beach restaurant. The bar upstairs is quite the scene as well.
Also recommended was Tuscan Steak House in South Beach. The food was remarkably good but the service was atrocious. It soured our experience so much that I would not recommend going there. However, the risotto once again was marvelous as were the steak dishes. The portions are meant to be huge and the platters are meant to be split. My rack of lamb was fantastic by the way. Hopefully, it was just a bad night as far as the service was concerned.
For just casual outdoor dining, I still adore the Front Porch. The best people watching in Miami Beach and right on Ocean drive. The food is wonderful too. Fabulous, juicy red tomatoes and fantastic sandwiches. I adore it. Go to the Delano for drinks and skip the over priced and over hyped restaurant. Also, someone in our group raved about The Forge for dinner.
