A group of friends and myself are coming up Columbus Day weekend to celebrate my 50th birthday. One couple leans toward vegetarianism, no red meat, pork, game etc.; however, they will eat fish and chicken. The other couple and myself are omnivores, but they mostly eat healthy foods. I like red meat, game, pork, offal... In the past we've shared plates and past visits to Portland have included Mother's Bistro, Wildwood and Andina.
We will be staying near the Expo Center Tri Met Station/yellow line and wherever we can't get to by public transportation we will take a taxi, but there is talk of a renting a car. One of the days we plan to visit the Alberta Arts district, so we could work dinner into the plan. We love the Pearl district, Powells and plan to have celebratory dessert at Papa Hadyn (but I am open to other dessert suggestions).
I like Asian food (sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean), pizza, French food, tapas, American comfort food. I am not a huge fan of pasta ,but do I like ravioli and I am visiting Mexico in November, so no Mexican food. I enjoy fish, shellfish, a good steak and a really good burger.
My friends like Italian, tapas, sushi, organic/locally sourced foods, fish and Middle Eastern food.
Well all love good wine and beer and appreciate a well crafted cocktail.
Budget is a factor. I don't want them to break the bank so keeping entrees around $20-25 (or lower) would be preferred. A place with small plates to share or a place that encourages family style would be appreciated. I guess that pretty much covers everything. Someplace that has a waiter that looks like Jude Law or Clive Owen would be great, but not a deal breaker. Thanks!
