This is a little late, as I've been back about 5 days which has felt like five years...note to self, don't start your week off w/ a 5am Monday morning flight...

Anyhow, just thought I would give a quick rundown of our weekend in good old PDX...

Friday: woke up and immediately proceeded to the Pearl Bakery with a short pit stop at whole foods to grab yogurt and fruit to go along with my wonderful assortment of breads and pasteries at Pearl...while the pastries are excellent, the panini rolls, either walnut or rosemary pecan, with jam are pure heaven to me! Lunch was a sandwich at Ken's which was good, although didn't blow me away like the last time. Still really good, though! Pre-dinner drinks at OR Wines on Broadway, the first time I've been dissapointed there, I felt like we got totally ripped off...long story, but won't be going back there...
Dinner at PARK KITCHEN was fantastic! All I have to say is COD FRITTERS! I would never have thought to order them except that we noticed every table in the restaurant was getting them...definitely the highlight. Flank steak salad was also exceptional, halibut entree was good, maybe a little salty, roasted beet salad was good but missing the goat cheese described on the menu, and fruit crisp w/ ginger ice cream for dessert, which they generously brought us a second scoop of the ice cream upon request, no charge! Overall, great experience, great ambience, too, will definitely go back.

Saturday: Quick stop at Pearl Bakery then up to the Farmer's Mkt., which was unbelievable, of course! I could have spent hours there...if only I had a kitchen to bring all of that wonderful produce back to! Lunch was dictated by the real estate agent(yes, we are contemplating moving to the area in a couple of years) but was very entertaining, we went to The Kennedy School, I have to say, I've never seen anything like it! Had a great seasonal beer. Dinner at Paley's Place, our all-time favorite, did not dissapoint! Spinach salad w/ blue cheese and walla wall onions, french fries(perfection), soft-egg goat cheese ravioli(unbelievable!), halibut in tomato something or other, and chocolate souffle which made me think I'd died and gone to heaven. That place never ceases to amaze me!

Sunday: where do you think? Late b'fast at Pearl Bakery and some snacks from Whole Foods. Lunch we weren't too hungry and ended up at the Pizzacato on 23rd...pretty decent pizza and good salad. Dinner at the bar at Higgins, heirloom tom./mozz/basil salad, house salad, and house-made pastrami were all really good.

So, as you can see, we still have a lot of places on the list we need to hit, if we can ever get away from our favorites! Y'all have one heck of an eatin' city, enjoy it!

thanks again for all the advice, Cheers!
