No reservation needed for the porterhouse. Monday noon was uncrowded. Metered parking right in front. All in all, a very nice meal, just like in the old days. Yes the buttery steak melted in my mouth leaving all the subtle flavors I expected. Spinach still a very nice side. There might have been a bit more char on the steak than I wanted, but I could see that as a matter of personal taste. Waiter was in no way 'gruff', which is in some sense a disappointment.
Waiter said at least part of the "shortage" of porterhouse was due to new restaurants adding porterhouse to the menu. Waiter claimed that the new comers could not sell enough porterhouse so they stopped buying. Now PL has all they need.
