Port Jefferson is a difficult place to recommend for fine dining. The most bang for the buck is Salsa Salsa a plain place that does a few things but does them well .. hearty and flavorful burritos et c . and a very tasty black bean soup among others. More suitible for take out orders than for seated dining. Ask for the hot sauce. Danfords has a great view if you get a table by the water, expensive for what you get, and don"t expect classic dishes such as Ceasar salad to bear any resemblence to the real thing.Pasta Pasta gathers mixed reviews; some "love"it and some see it as overpriced spaghetti, but if a sun dried tomato is all it takes to bring tears to your eyes maybe this is the place for you. A half hour from port jeff,or less, is a find...Taste of Portugal on Portion Road in Farmingville. This is a real SLEEPER!Authentic PORTUGESE food at incredible prices. All served in a family run, well decorated, (shopping center) restaurant .Try anything ,and don't miss the world's best Magarita{fair warning on the latter you may never be able to drink one anywhere else).
