I've spent far too long (unsuccessfully) prowling the internet to recreate an (embarrassing) taste of my childhood... some sort of cheese spread (cheddar? port?) that came in a brown crock. It was salty, and strongly flavored. It tasted nothing like the port-cheese spread or port cheese balls (rolled in nuts) that I've come across. Any thoughts on who makes this delight, if they still make it, and where one can find it? It's been haunting me for over 20 years... I'm a pathetic version of a (less regal) Proust.
