best PORK dishes?

brian j | Feb 8, 2006 07:30 PM

i'm just wondering what everyone's favorite pork dishes are around town, both in and outside of the city. so far the best pork I've had is the Kao Ka Moo pork leg stew at Thai House Express. the pork is shreddy and rich with 5-star flavor.

other good pork dishes I've had include:
~ Carnitas Turnover from Frog Hollow Farm in the Ferry Building. Buttery pastry filled with succulent chunks of pork and roasted poblano.
~ Green Chili Stew @ Green Chili Kitchen on Baker & Fulton. Green and chunky with lots of onion and chili bits, some potatoe, and a pretty fair amount of tender Niman Ranch pork.
~ Saigon Pork Sandwich from Out the Door in the Ferry Building. This banh mi comes on ACME bread with the usual banh mi toppings. Expesnive for a banh mi, but the quality of the ingredients is higher than what you'll find at yer average banh mi sandwich shop. Definitely worth it.
~ Niman Ranch Pork chop from Home. This pork chop was cooked very nicely with a bit of pinkness. Adorned with a simple jus sauce, the flavor of this quality pork really shone through.
~ Niman Ranch pulled pork sandwich from Home. Although the pork was not smoked, it was smothered in a delicious BBQ sauce, and somehow they managed to add a bit of grill/char flavor to the meat.
