a poor girl's modest splurge - cafe le gamin, or somewhere else?

Hey folks. Being a 20-something gal in the arts, my chowishness is often limited to the cheap-eats side of the spectrum. However, I'm getting a bonus next week, and I'd really like to spend some money (100-150 total or a bit less) on taking my boyfriend out for a nice date at a romantic place. I'm really tempted to just go to Cafe Le Gamin because I love it so much, but I also want to seize the opportunity to try someplace I haven't been before. What I love about Gamin is the ease and relaxed feeling, no rush to get out of there, no pretension, service is friendly and neighborly, as opposed to presentational and formal, and I love how the food is beautifully presented, but not at all fussy.

Been to Hearth, Mermaid Inn, and The Red Cat, so I'm looking for something along those lines or cozier, someplace that'll be special, where we can take our time. Thinking about going to Dumont in Williamsburg, since it's near my house, also thinking about Prune. Anywhere downtown is good, though I'll venture just about anywhere. I'm getting hungry for le gamin - can anyone convince me otherwise, or should I stick to what I know?

until then, i'll stick to the dumpling house on eldridge (not complaining!)

thanks for the help ;-)
